Who says that you can only decorate for the holidays? In my opinion, it’s perfectly acceptable to decorate your home for any occasion. One of my favorite reasons to decorate is the start of Autumn! Pumpkins, blankets, bonfires, and changing leaves…. what more do you need to be ready to celebrate and decorate! Today, at the official change of the season in my mind (September 1st), I’m going to be sharing some fun and easy ways to change up your décor for the season.
A great way to add color and flare to your curb appeal of your home is to add some fresh florals to your porch and near your mailbox. Mums come in a variety of colors and are a beautiful addition to any area of your yard. For some extra flare, pair the mums with different sizes of pumpkins and gourds!
The second way to change up your décor for fall outdoors is by switching out your doormat! Change your boring old “Welcome” mat for something more appropriate to the season! They make witty mats, as well as graphic mats.
- The second option we found is this graphic pumpkin door mat that is also sold from an Etsy seller under the shop name HamlinRowShop.
What about indoors? How can
you easily change out your year-round décor for something more Autumnal? The easiest ways to do this are to add some chunky knit throw blankets and moody colored pillows to add some flare to your living areas. We love these options from Pottery Barn!
We are also loving these hand blown glass pumpkins that come in multiple colors. Be nontraditional and pick a blue hued glass pumpkin. We love this one from BluePowGlass on Etsy. Or if you don’t love the glass look, opt for a velvet pumpkin!
The final way that we would suggest changing your home’s décor to a more Autumn based palette is by including metallic colors like copper or gold into your décor. You could do this through candle holders, place settings, or even glittered foliage on your fireplace mantel. The plus side of this is that the metallic colors can continue all the way through Christmas and New Years!
And with the start of every new season, we wish you all the prosperity and happiness you could imagine! Happy Autumn and happy decorating!
